Great skiing, a wide range of cultural events with live highland folklore, a newly opened aquapark and beautiful views on the whole of the Tatra Mountains – this is just a brief outline of the attractions that Bukowina Tatrzańska offers to visitors.
The town of Bukowina Tatrzańska is the best-known locality in the area. The area, which is situated only several kilometres from Zakopane, guarantees a wonderful rest close to nature and it is a cult area for lovers of the mountains. It includes several mountain slopes and peaks, which afford breathtaking views on the whole of the Tatras. Bukowina also offers a well-developed and growing skiing infrastructure. Many fascinating cultural events are held there. One of them is the Highland Carnival, which has been held annually for almost 40 years and has become immensely popular. Its programme includes a Nativity group competition, a race of kumoterki (horse-drawn sledges), skiring contests, and parades of festive carts. Bukowina received yet another major attraction last year – an aquapark with twelve pools, half of which are located indoors, and a capacity for 1,500 people. They are all supplied with water from geothermal springs, so the water that flows into the pools has a temperature of 29-36°C.
The town of Białka Tatrzańska, which has become very popular in recent years, has over 20 ski-lifts, including four chair-lifts, which operate in winter thanks to the resourcefulness of the people who live there and their ability to work together. The combined capacity of the lifts is 15,000 skiers per hour, and the total length of ski runs is 15 km. Visitors can stay at family pensions (about 6,000 beds in total) run by local highlanders, in which they can also taste the specialities of regional cuisine.

Najbardziej znaną jej miejscowością jest stolica gminy, Bukowina Tatrzańska. Od Zakopanego gminę dzieli zaledwie kilkanaście kilometrów, a gwarantuje wspaniały wypoczynek w bliskim kontakcie z naturą. To miejscowość wręcz kultowa dla miłośników gór. Rozłożona jest na kilku wierzchołkach górskich, co gwarantuje wspaniałe widoki na całe pasmo Tatr. Bukowina oferuje bardzo rozwiniętą i stale rozbudowywaną infrastrukturę narciarską. Odbywa się też tam wiele fascynujących imprez kulturalnych, z których olbrzymią popularnością cieszy się organizowany od niemal 40 lat Góralski Karnawał. W jego programie są m.in. konkurs grup kolędniczych, wyścigi kumoterek, czyli sań ciągniętych przez konie, a także zawody w skiringu i ski-skiringu oraz przejazdy zaprzęgami paradnymi. Bukowina wzbogaciła się w tym roku o kolejną wielką atrakcję. To aqupark, w którym znajduje się 12 basenów, z czego połowa pod dachem. Wszystkie zasilane są ze źródeł geotermalnych, z których do basenów płynie woda o temperaturze 29-36 st. Celsjusza. Z parku wodnego jednocześnie może korzystać 1500 osób.
W ostatnich latach olbrzymią popularność zdobyła także inna miejscowość gminy. To Białka Tatrzańska, gdzie dzięki przedsiębiorczości mieszkańców i umiejętności wspólnego działania zimą pracuje już ponad 20 wyciągów narciarskich w tym cztery kolejki krzesełkowe. Łączna przepustowość wyciągów to 15 tysięcy osób na godzinę, na których czeka 15 km tras. Turystów miejscowi górale przyjmują w rodzinnych pensjonatach (razem ok. 6 tysięcy miejsc) oferując im przy okazji znakomitą regionalną kuchnię
